Your Dracaena ‘Sanderiana’ stems from the tropical areas around the equator in Africa and Asia. Dracaena is a classic among the house plants. Its name is derived from the Greek ‘drakaina’, which alludes to the sap from the stem, which was said to resemble dragon’s blood.

Most types of Dracaena have narrow, sword-like leaves that are always green with, characteristically, variously coloured longitudinal stripes. Dracaena is famous for its strength and survival instinct. When it grows older, the lower stem will slowly turn into wood.

Dracaena ‘Sanderiana’ is larger than ‘Compacta’ and its leaves have two shades of green, whereas ‘Compacta’ leaves are of one dark green colour.
