The joy flowers bring.

Around 1730 the species Gerbera was discovered by the botanist Gronovius from the Dutch city of Leiden. He named the species after his collegue Gerber. Since then a lot of cross-fertilization and selecting has been done, which have delivered us the cut flowers and pot plants we still cherish today.

You have purchased a very nice plant which will certainly come up to your expectations. Place your Gerbera at a nice spot in the window. As long as sufficient light reaches the heart of the plant it will continue to bloom all through summer. When its flowers seem to stop growing you should take a little extra care of the plant. The flowers will return.

It is best to remove the flowers of hanging leaves. Thereby you give the plant the chance to keep blooming.

Your terrace and balcony will greatly benefit from your Gerbera on a table. Or put a couple of them in a large pot or bowl and turn your terrace into a colourful extension of your living room.
